Clara and Evan had their wedding in Nanaimo, BC at Goats on Roof, Coombs Old Country Market. Yes, they actually have goats on the roof!! So cool! As soon as I heard this I was beyond excited. I had never photographed a wedding at a location with goats and so I couldn’t wait to fly in and check this place out.
This location had great food, so much personality and great indoor and outdoor locations with beautiful fairy lights, greenery and more. If all my wedding venues looked like this place, I’d be forever happy… also goats don’t hurt! haha
Clara and her party got ready at the Tigh-Na-Mara Resort in Parksville. It was a very cute spot perfect for hair, makeup and hanging with with your besties. They got ready in the Amelia cabin. Here’s the outside of the cabin with her beautiful dress! ā¤ļø
Clara is a massive Harry Potter fan and so of course we had to integrate that into her details. With the help of pretty pocket fairy lights, we styled her flowers and wedding bands with the backdrop of Chapter 15 of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince book. How adorable does that look?
Champaign time! Look how cute they look with their matching robes. I love it. š Such a good idea to gift your party gifts that will make your photos look great. Whether it’s a robe, matching bracelets, fur shawls (for winter weddings) and more… considering this will add lots of consistency into your photographs.
Evan and his groom’s party started their morning at Four Crows to get their hair cut. This place was so rad. So old school and full of personality. His friends loved it and it made for a really cool backdrop for grooms party shots.
Clara’s party entered the ceremony space down some stairs where their guests awaited them. Such a pretty venue!
This is Clara and her brother. He walked her down the stairs and handed her off to her dad. He’s also part of Evan’s party.
That first look is priceless. Evan is such a sweet man and his reaction to seeing Clara is just perfect. You can see how excited he is! These two are so great together.
I love these flower pedals on the floor. Such a pretty contrast from all the greenery.
After the ceremony, me and the wedding party headed to Little Mountain for some wedding party shots. Rob stayed behind to photograph the reception details in Cuckoo Trattoria Pizzeria, the restaurant at Goats on Roof and Old Country Market. What a lovely location for dinner. I love the frames, wooden chairs and of course the chandeliers! Also the food was AMAZING!
By the way… Clara made this donut wall. Amazing right? Jeez my couples are talented!!
As I mentioned, me and the party headed to Little Mountain which was only a few minutes away. The view up there is INCREDIBLE and by the way you can totally drive up to the top which is perfect when you don’t have a lot of time in your schedule.
What’s even better is that we were there around sunset which was incredible because of how beautiful the light is during that time. I highly recommend scheduling time to be outside during sunset, also known as golden hour!
Clara and Evan’s friend wrote their first dance song! How sweet is that! He is so talented. Such a beautiful keepsake for the couple too. ā„ļø
And that’s a wrap. What a beautiful day! I feel so lucky to meet such incredible people all over Canada. Thank you Clara and Evan for having such an epic wedding for me to photograph!
“Where to start when you have so much to say!! If youāre looking for the most in tune with your vision, amazingly talented, super crazy climber to get the right shot photographer, look no further. Amanda FAR EXCEEDED any expectation I had for wedding photography. Sheās magic. I had found her in a series of crazy events, and Iām so glad I did! She flew in to Vancouver Island from Toronto, and got straight to work. She is my new best friend, my mom wants to adopt her, and the photos Iāve seen so far are INCREDIBLE! I almost stole her ID so she couldnāt go home. Booking her was so last minute due to my initial photographer and dear friend losing her battle to cancer.
To say the least Amanda had big shoes to fill. She worked with me quickly, and was so accommodating. Everyone at my wedding couldnāt shut up about how amazing she was, and how lucky we were to find her. I canāt wait for the rest of the photos, and have made a new friend for life! Amanda and her husband will never disappoint with your vision, and bring more to the table you could ever imagine. I love you both already so much, and canāt wait to bring you back again one day! ā„ļø” – Clara
